Introduction
New Zealand has been a leader in the development of nutrition programs for young children. In the early 1900s, a leader in the field was Dr. Truby King, who advocated the importance of breastfeeding for children, especially during their first 12 months of life. In fact, one of his slogans was “breast fed is best fed”. That aside, Dr. King recognized that not all mothers could breastfeed their children through to weaning. In response, he developed a special milk formula that was manufactured by some of the New Zealand dairy companies of the time. Then in 1908, he published the book, 'Feeding and Caring for Baby'. Later, he became a recognized international expert on child nutrition.

The legacy of Dr. Truby King lives on, and today New Zealand has some of the world's most advanced formula production facilities. In fact, despite its small land size, about the same as the United Kingdom, it is the world's largest dairy exporting nation with a population of 5 million dairy cows. The same number as its human population.

Benefiting from its temperate and subtropical climate zones New Zealand dairy production is based on pasture-fed practices. Combined with its strong environmental, product safety, and labor protection laws, the nation's dairy products are highly regarded in the international market. Most importantly Formula products.
